Tip 1: Dryer lint fire kindling.
While you should have a propane camping stove on hand, if you run out of propane you may be moving to good old fashioned wood burning for cooking and water boiling.
Starting a fire can be done many ways but one great source of kindling is dryer lint. Hang a plastic grocery bag on a hook/nail/water line valve near your dryer.
Everytime you clean your dryer's lint trap instead of throwing the lint away put it into the bag. Over time you will build up a nice supply of very effective fire kindling.
Tip 2: Keep food and ammo free from moisture.
In addition to using good sealed containers, adding silica gel packs go a long way in keeping food fresh longer and your ammo in top firing condition.
Since they serve a dual purpose, only buy food grade silica packets so you only have the right ones for any reason.
Store unused ones in very well sealed ziplock bags wrapped in other plastic bags. One inside your ammo container (not ammo boxes alone) is enough.
